Types of Radiometer self-fill syringes

safePICO self-fill syringe

All the features of the safePICO self-fill syringe are designed to help you improve your mixing in the preanalytical phase.

PICO70 self-fill syringe

The PICO70 self-fill syringe is the simple version of the safePICO self-fill syringe which minimizes the risk of clot formation.

Specialists by blood

The history of Radiometer as we know it today began in 1954 when Radiometer developed the world’s first commercially available blood gas analyzer. Since then, we have refined our blood gas testing knowledge and experience and continue to advance our acute care diagnostic solutions.

Be confident in operator safety, by minimizing the risk of needlestick injury.

Plunger stop at 1.5 mL

A protective feature that helps ensure that the barrel and plunger remain together.

Vented safeTIPCAP

Helps seal the sample immediately after blood collection, allows you to expel air bubbles, and stays on during analysis.

Vented safeTIPCAP

Helps seal the sample immediately after blood collection, allows you to expel air bubbles, and stays on during analysis.

Integrated mixing ball

Integrated mixing ball and automatic mixing enhances analytical quality through standardized mixing when used with ABL90-series and ABL800 FLEX-series, without causing hemolysis.

Needle shield device

Locked securely, the needle shield can be disposed securely, minimizing the risk of needlestick injury.

Heparin brick

Uniquely designed, dry, electrolyte-balanced heparin brick reduces the risk of clots, negative electrolyte bias, and sample dilution.

Pre-barcoded

Pre-barcoded self-fill syringe - helps ensure correct patient-sample identification every time when used as a part of the 1st Automatic solution.

Vented safeTIPCAP

Helps seal the sample immediately after blood collection, allows you to expel air bubbles, and stays on during analysis.

Integrated mixing ball

Together with automatic mixing, it enhances analytical quality through standardized and homogenous mixing, and reduces the risk of hemolysis.

Needleshield device

Securely locked and operated with one hand, the needleshield can be disposed securely, minimizing the risk of needlestick injury.

How we support you as a caregiver

At Radiometer, we believe that supporting caregivers should be a top priority in all phases of acute care testing.

The integrated needle shield device on the safePICO self-fill syringe lowers the risk of needlestick injury.

The vented safeTIPCAP limits the risk of contact wiht patient blood while helping you to safely remove air bubbles in the sample.

Manual mixing and automatic mixing

The built-in mixing ball in the safePICO self-fill syringe aids in the manual mixing of the sample.

However, when you mix your sample manually, make sure you don’t mix it too vigorously to reduce the risk of hemolysis. [1]

Using automatic mixing integrated in your blood gas analyzer aids in obtaining a homogenous sample. [1]

In fact, studies comparing manual and automatic mixing have demonstrated that automatic mixing is superior to manual mixing in producing a homogeneous sample and obtaining correct results. [1]

Barcode connects patient with sample

The safePICO self-fill syringe is already barcoded, helping you match the sample with the correct patient.

1st Automatic combines blood gas analyzers, pre-barcoded safePICO syringes and POC data management. Synergistically, these elements can easily ensure patient identification at the bedside, streamline workflow efficiency, and minimize the likelihood of misattributed or lost samples.

The PICO70 self-fill syringe

Compatible with an A-line catheter stopcock, enabling it to be attached to the arterial catheter/line

The PICO70 self-fill syringe helps you deliver a blood sample with high analytical quality.  It contains Radiometer’s uniquely formulated dry, electrolyte-balanced heparin.  It minimizes risk of clot formation in the sample.

The PICO70 self-fill syringe is available with a TIPCAP. The TIPCAP attaches to the syringe to reduce the risk of blood spillage.
