Radiometer launches next-generation of standalone CO-oximeter
Find out more about the new OSM version of the ABL80 FLEX CO-OX analyzer
Compact. Cartridge-based. Low in operating costs. And with the same performance known from Radiometer's benchtop analyzers like the ABL700 and ABL800 FLEX analyzers. That's how Radiometer describes the OSM version of the ABL80 FLEX CO-OX analyzer, its new, next-generation standalone CO-oximeter.
Successor to a Radiometer classic
Successor to Radiometer’s OSM3 CO-OX-only analyzer, the new OSM version of the ABL80 FLEX CO-OX analyzer provides a broad CO-OX parameter panel for multiple clinical applications, including cardiac catheterization labs, where an oximeter is required during procedures such as angioplasty. CO-oximeters are also typically used to detect hypoxia (too little oxygen in the blood), a condition that can cause severe damage to the heart and central nervous system. This is an especially useful indicator for critical patients in the emergency department or ICU.
Best of both worlds
According to Jakob Møller-Jensen, Radiometer’s Global Product Manager for the OSM version of the ABL80 FLEX CO-OX analyzer, the new CO-OX only analyzer brings together the best of both worlds.
“With the new OSM version, we were able to take the same kind of accuracy our customers expect from one of our traditional benchtop analyzers and put it into a compact, easy-to-use, cartridge-based analyzer,” says Møller-Jensen.
“Because the OSM version of the ABL80 FLEX CO-OX analyzer offers only CO-OX parameters,” says Jakob, “it is able to deliver results more quickly and at a lower cost compared with combination blood gas-CO-OX analyzers. This is ideal in situations where only CO-OX parameters are needed, like in the cath lab. These benefits, along with important features like automatic quality control and connectivity, make the analyzer a winning combination for acute care testing.”
Key features & benefits of the OSM version of the ABL80 FLEX CO-OX analyzer include:
- Broad CO-OX parameter panel – for multiple clinical applications
- Ultrasonic hemolyzation – for precise and accurate measurements
- Simple main menu, on-board tutorials and no maintenance – easy to use at the point of care
- Full network connectivity – no manual entry of results, reducing the potential of transcription errors
- Automatic Quality Control – compliance made easy
