At the upcoming European Respiratory Society’s annual congress held in Barcelona, Spain, September 18-22, Radiometer will demonstrate its integrated TC and blood gas solution at booth no. C.60 in Hall 2.

Integrated solution provides continuous picture of patient status
By combining non-invasive and continuous monitoring on TC monitors with spot measurements on ABL blood gas analyzers, caregivers can save precious time and reduce the risk of errors when diagnosing and treating patients suffering from respiratory conditions.

Radiometer’s ABL blood gas analyzers provide superior analytical performance in the measurement of critical parameters, whereas Radiometer’s TC monitors and sensors provide real-time trending of pO2, pCO2 and SpO2. Measured parameters are displayed ensuring fast and immediate clinical intervention to critical changes.

ABL800 FLEX reduces risk of misdiagnosis of patients with pleural effusions
In addition to an integrated transcutaneous and blood gas solution for respiratory patients, Radiometer will also be showing the new dedicated mode for measuring pH in pleural fluid on the ABL800 FLEX analyzer.

Measurement of pH in pleural fluid on the ABL800 FLEX analyzer – as opposed to commonly used pH meters – is a validated and CE-accredited parameter which is key in helping to secure a correct clinical decision. The measurement is done through a dedicated sample mode, securing a correct registration of results and reducing the potentially fatal risk of a diagnostic misclassification of the effusion and under-treatment of the condition.

In addition to measuring pH in pleural fluid, the ABL800 FLEX measures blood gas, electrolytes, metabolites and co-oximetry. Many of the analyzer’s key functions – such as sample testing, mixing and identification, as well as quality control – are automated, reducing the risk of manual errors and increasing patient safety.
